The information provided herin is a compulation of years of personnal effort, and a colaborative effort with my cousin Nancy Louise 'Nikodem' BALLARD and others, to identify and track mostly documented but in some cases logically evaluated and derived from other works or circumstances found through research. Where undocumented work may be challanged, I am open to debate on the results, and to makeing modifications accordingly when better, more accurate and documented information is prosented. I've been collecting data and researching several branches of my family tree, but I have been focusing on the later generation Ancestors of the following lines:
George Burkhart NIKODEM b:10/1844, Prague, Bohemia, d:11/1905 Chicago, IL, and his wife Mary PHILBIN b:10/10/1852, Chicago, IL, d:11/23/1917, Bisbee, AZ.
Joseph FALLOWS b:5/13/1855, Middleton, England, d:11/5/1922, New York, and his wife Mary Alice CHEETHAM, b:9/30/1857, Middleton, England, d: 5/28/1947, Pacific Palisades, CA.
William Houston MURPHREE, b:3/5/1853, Cullman, AL, d:10/14/1901, Cullman, AL, and his wife Missouri Ann JONES, b:10/13/1862, d:6/24/1939, Cullman, AL.
Theadore Daniel SULLIVAN, b:4/10/1837, St. Louis, MO, d:4/17/1908, Caldwell, TX, and his wife Cornelia W. BROADDUS, b:1/3/1842, Caroline Co., VA, d:10/25/1919, Caldwell, TX.
Thomas WILLIAMS, son of William WILLIAMS and Ann RICHEY, b:12/15/1847, Cardiff, Wales, d:1/29/1901, Caldwell, TX, and his wife Lucy Jane KENNEDY, b:1859, Milam Co., TX, d:1884, Raleigh, NC, her father Prior KENNEDY, b:1807, Sumner Co. TN, d:TX, and his wife Deliah Ann JONES, b:1824, Blount Co., AL, d:TX
One of my lines, through Judge Andrew Sydney BROADDUS, leads directly to Edward BROADDUS through both of his wives, and I am looking for more definitive information on their ancestry. It is probable, based on my research, that Edward BROADDUS, or possibly BROADHURST at the time, was an indentured servant, and after fulfilling his contract, met and married Dollwyddolan GWYNN. Based on this then,
she was most likely born in VA on Gwynn's island, and with the apparent lack of good female birth records there, and with the information I’ve been able to gather at this point, John GWYNN and Margaret KEEBLE appear most likely to be her parents.
Edward BROADDUS, b:1600's Wales, d:1700's Caroline Co., VA, and his wives Dollwyddolan GWYNN (wife #1), b:Gwynn's Island, VA, d:Caroline Co., VA, and I believe, her GGGrandfather, Hugh GWYNN, b:abt 1585, England, d:abt 1654, Gwynn's Island, VA, and Mary SHIPLEY (wife #2).
I've also collected information on Ann REDD, wife of Thomas BROADDUS, Jr. grandson of Edward BROADDUS, b:abt 1730, King and Queen Co., VA, d:abt 1826, Caroline Co., VA. I believe her father was Thomas REDD b:abt 1715, King and Queen Co., VA, d:abt 1745, King and Queen Co. VA, and his father Thomas REDD b:abt 1675, and mother Sarah FARGUSON. I also believe Ann's mother was Elizabeth BARBEE, and her grandfather John BARBEE, and grandmother Ann MILLER.
My grandmother's, Willie Parker 'Sullivan' Murphree and Elizabeth Ellen 'Fallows' Nikodem, both have inspired me to continue with their desire to identify the roots of our families. Most of the data collected has been a result of establishing channels of research through clues provided by their family records, that consisted of writing's and personal discussions (including family lore and ledgend), bibles, and books they provided with family history data. I've also had some opportune onsite visits to former family palces, and via the Internet, where I've been able to locate additional data.
Any information available to support, or add to my information, would be greatly appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have collected.
